New Book!!!

Hey!
I am glad to announce the release of my new book, "Becoming an Amazing Girl"

The book came out in July, and we launched it at our church, Christian Church Int'l, Thika, on Sunday the 2nd of August, this year.

The book has been an encouragement to many girls of various ages, although it was mainly targeted to the younger generation. I am glad about this.

The book came along with a website, www.becominganamazinggirl.org. Please visit this site for more information on Amazing Girl activities, and how to get in touch with us.

May God bless you, and see you soon!

Talitha Cumi...Arise!!

Hello World!

Here's a sermon I shared last Sunday at a girls' school in Karen, Nairobi. I hope it will bless you too, and inspire you and help you up to a new level in your life.

Blessings,
Amazing Girl.

SUNDAY 24TH MAY 2009

MISSION AT St. Elizabeth School, Karen.

WORSHIP TEAM: Beracah Worship Team

MINISTER: Mrs. Anngladys Gichuhi

My name is Anngladys Gichuhi, first born daughter and second born in a family of five. I am married to Pastor Rupert Gichuhi, who pastors in our church, CCIT. I work with ACMI in the media department doing communications. I am born again.

I am privileged today to share the word of God with you, and it is my prayer that God will minister to you personally today.

ARISE!!

BIBLE TEXT: MARK 5: 22-24, 35-43

22, 23, 24 Jesus was in a crowd. Jairus came to him, and Jesus listened to him. Jesus gives PERSONAL ATTENTION even in a crowd. Tell him your request.

Jairus looks for Jesus- your parents and guardians desire the best for you and so they go out looking for it.

Jairus begs Jesus – your parents are desperate for your wellness. They pray and cry, pleading for your best.

Jesus walks with Jairus – PERSONAL ATTENTION.

Crowd follows Jesus – you are the priority now, special, important and significant.

35 Girl dies – news brought fast, negative news travels fast, with extra discouragement e.g. ”why bother the master any longer?”.

36 Jesus ignores them, and so should you. (NIV version says, “Ignoring what they said….”) ignore the negative voices and listen to Jesus’ encouragement!!!

Jesus says, “do not fear, only believe/don’t listen to them; just trust me”. Only his word is significant and has any effect. (Psalms 121:1) Jesus knows better about your life, therefore he ignores the negative information. I’m excited about that!!

37 Jesus chooses who to go in with – he chooses special ministers for you – you are special and important to him, he pays personal detail to your affairs.

38 Commotion – people may have given up already. It may look bleak, they are even mourning, perhaps even planning for your funeral. Some are there to look for gossip. (The Message Bible – they pushed their way through gossips who were there looking for a story.)

39 Yeah, it looks bad, but Jesus tells them to stop. Because he knows that you are not dead, only sleeping. He knows your true condition. Your situation is not hopeless, there is hope! There is still life inside of you!! You’re only sleeping.

40 They started laughing at him. People will be sarcastic about your life. But thank God for what he did next. He sends them away. Your friends may be sent away but relax, because it is for your own good. You’ll have a better environment to wake up to, to discover yourself, your potential, and advance in your ambitions and dreams, in his purpose for you!

40 Jesus goes in – he loves you, he comes to you, right where you are.

41 Jesus takes her hand. He touches her – personal attention, love.

Bible in Basic English
And taking her by the hand, he said to her, Talitha cumi, which is, My child, I say to you, Get up. (Verse 41)

My child – you belong, you are loved, you are embraced in God’s love, you have a place in God, and you can rest in him.

Arise – wake up, use your potential. He didn’t pat her; he says and requires of her the highest possible thing. He calls you at the level of your maximized potential.

He called Gideon a mighty man of valor, David was anointed to be King – not king elect/ in waiting.

So you too, ARISE! ARISE!

When he calls you to that level, he makes sure everything is inside of you and that you CAN do what he asks. Really, it’s already there inside of you, and he’s helping you discover it.

Phil. 4:13 – grayscale TV cannot be commanded to show in color, same as you!

He may tell you to run while you are sleeping in your bed. He knows the potential inside of you. Arise! Discover your POTENTIAL, develop it, and use it to the maximum! Be all you can be!! You have the God-given ability inside of you!

42 And just like her, amaze those around you! (RSV – and they were overcome with amazement.) You can be an amazing girl!!!

Will you accept his touch? I did.

MY STORY- given up on my life after my dad’s death, depressed, suicidal, gave God a break, rededicated my life to God, accepted his love, and began growing in my potential – all round. Now I’m a happy girl, at peace with God and myself, and my family too. And continuing to grow in all aspects of life.

Your life isn’t so messed up (you are so young!), so it’s possible to make it BIG starting NOW, better than later when you possibly will have spoilt so many facets of it.

Daughter, ARISE!

Place 2

Place 2 would be....the JOURNEY.

The journey to where? If you're reading this now and wondering what this is about, let me send you back to Amazing Girl Potential. That's where this began. Wondering how to get from "ordinary here" to "finally there."

We looked at several characters who had made it from Point A to Point B in their lives. And some of them have had to make it through very tough times and hard situations. My personal belief is this, that if we want something badly enough, we would do whatever it takes to get it. If it means working our way through college so that we can pay our fees, in order to get qualified in that particular profession and achieve our dream, then we will.

Many stories are told of how people started from scratch to where they are now. I think that it's possible to become anyone, and to own anything, if only we put our mind and ourselves totally into it. Oh no, this is not as we go against the will of God. It has got to be God's will for us to achieve it. He always provides all that's needed for His will to be done - inspiration, desire, resources, drive, grace, peace. You name it, and God will avail it for His purpose.

See, nothing is impossible with God (Mark 10:27). And we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13). We however need to do our part, to prepare our fields, to go out and work hard (Proverbs) and to devote ourselves to attaining our goals. Even as girls, despite the many condenscending reports that we hear. That's something for another post now.

So yes, we can also MAKE IT. Because God has endowed us with the POTENTIAL and with the ABILITY if we are willing to do things His way, and serve His purpose. Let's stay on the journey, dear Amazing Girls!!!

Peace out,
AG.

Place 1

This was going to two places. The first one is this, POTENTIAL.

Every girl has great potential deep inside of her. If you are going to be a singer, you already have the gift inside of you. If you are going to be an actress, a leader, a speaker, a writer.......you already have it going inside of you.

The difference,in my opinion, is that, those people that we look up to as "celebrities" and "stars" are just doing the same things that we are doing, only that they are doing them in the limelight, infront of many people. And because of their expertise and having done it for a long time, they are therefore known by many people, and have indeed grown a base and a wide network of relationships, that increase their "getting known."

I'd say, that if you do have the potential, use it where you are. You would be doing the exact same thing if you were any of those "stars." In my view, the difference the scale in which we do it. I may sing infront of a hundred people, someone else may sing infront of a thousand. But we are both singing. I suppose that with time, we will get more and more ready to sing infront of many more people. And that the kind of character we should have for that will be developed over time.

If we are faithful in our "small" portions, then God will surely entrust us with larger portions. And needless to say, we will grow in our confidence day by day. Although we all want to "get there" we definitely wouldn't want to be thrown infront of a thousand people to sing a solo....we'd definitely want to be prepared with, you know, say a band, a few back-up singers...

What am I saying? You've already got it there inside of you, dear girl. Be faithful where you're at, it's your preparation for where you want to be. Go you, Amazing Girl!!!

Amazing Girl Potential

It's an overwhelming feeling of adoration when we see other ladies who have made it big in life. Maybe it's that news anchor who's always smart and has great eloquence. Maybe it's that preacher's wife, or maybe she's the preacher. Or that musician, say Cece Winans or Nicole C. Mullen. It could be an actress....it could be anyone.

The first immediate feeling that we get is that of admiration. Wow.How did she do that, how did she get there, I wish I could be like her. Oh she must have had great circumstances and opportunities in life to be that way...

And on and on our thoughts go. Untill we read their life story, and discover that they have had to fight many obstacles, many unpleasant circumstances. Maybe they lost their parents at a young age, or they have been living with a chronic disease like cancer. Or maybe they were raised in a children's home and have fought their way through life.

Alright, I admit that sometimes they are born in the "right" family, go to the "right" schools, and land the "right" connections. But that's not always the case.

Just where am I going with all this? Two places...read on.

Welcome to Amazing Girl!

Isn't it great to be a girl? I mean, you look totally fabulous, feel great about yourself, you love every single bit about your body, your looks, your attitude, your charisma....boy ain't you just the girl to be!

Yeah right. Big sigh. You wish. She wishes. They wish. Perhaps, we all wish. We all wish we could absolutely love ourselves and every last detail about ourselves. But that fails to be the case, sometimes, many times,...most times? Maybe.

And yet we are told that we are the "leaders of tomorrow". We are given endless tonnes of advise about how to make it to the future, how to make it in the future. But who will tell me how to deal with my here and now? How to deal, as a young teenager, with my acne, with my "swelling" body, with no boys (or too many boys) showering me with their attention?

Hope to answer these questions here, interact and get real. As we uncover the pearl, unwind the ribbons, and discover the beautiful, amazing girl that lies inside each girl....each lady.
